WGO Bogotá Training Center

Introduction:

In response to training needs in Central and South America, on August 6, 2008, the Clínica Reina Sofía Endoscopy Training Center and the Clínica Universitaria Colombia Endoscopy Training Center were inaugurated in Bogotá, Colombia.

Clínica Reina Sofía has obtained significant recognition in digestive endoscopy both in Colombia and abroad, and a sub-specialty program was created under the auspice of a new medical school, Unisanitas.


Main Objectives and Goals:

  • The main objectives of the Bogotá Training Center include the provision of complementary endoscopy, therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic EUS, and in new technologies trainings.  In addition, research on new developments in endoscopy.
  • The geographic areas targeted for training includes Colombia, Central America, and the Andean region.

Facilities:

Digestive endoscopy unit:

  • Two adult and one pediatric endoscopy rooms
  • One gastrointestinal physiology room
  • Recovery room for sedated patients
  • Dedicated area for equipment disinfection

ERCP suite with digital radiology support

Experimental animal suite


Areas of Training:

  • Therapeutic endoscopy
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • EMR technologies
  • Argon-treatment of esophageal varices
