The World Congress of Gastroenterology at Australian Gastroenterology Week 2025 will be held in partnership with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), 19-22 September 2025 in Melbourne, Australia.

GASTRO 2024 was held in in partnership with the Société Marocaine des Maladies de l'Appareil Digestif, 7-9 November 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco.
The 2022 World Congress of Gastroenterology was held in partnership with the Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society, 12-14 December 2022 in Dubai, UAE.
The WCOG has historically been held every four years, starting with the first World Congress in Washington, DC, USA in 1958. In 2017, the World Congress officially moved to a two-year schedule. View the congress history.
Applications to host a World Congress can only be considered from WGO member societies. Final ratification of the venue of a World Congress is made at the WGO General Assembly.
